10 facts you probably didn't know about Friends

In January I have 5 exams so I have to study every day this month, but no day goes by without watching an episode of Friends before I go to sleep. Even though the last episode aired on May 6 2004, I guess nobody ever truly said goodbye to Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Pheobe and Joey, so we may as well stay obsessing over them :)! I've seen every episode at least 5 times, but still love every single one! Here are some little-known facts about our favorite TV sitcom.

Hi guys,

As you've probably already noticed, we weren't very active on our blog during the past few weeks.
The reason for this is that next month, Julia and I both have our exams for university.
We'll really have to focus on our studies so probably won't be able to do a lot for our blog, with pain in our hearts. Maybe we'll be able to make some posts to release some stress from studying all day, but can't promise anything..

We hope you understand this. We'll be back as soon as possible.

Dream house

Our Scandinavian neighbors have years ahead of us in terms of ecology and optimal exploitation of energy sources. Black walls can absorb and retain heat from the sun. Another good example here for a 4-room apartment perfectly decorated, in a building of residential suburbs. Who said black was sad? It is refinement … I would kill to live in an apartment like this!

Christmas cookies

Nothing is as fun as decorating your Christmas tree with some freshly homemade butter cookies. They only take about 20 minutes to make and taste really good!

Like you all know by now, Julia moved to Regensburg in October. After not seeing each other for more than 2 months, I finally went to visit her last weekend and we had sooo much fun!

So I was just browsing through some blogs I followed and I stumbled upon this article where a very famous blogger (Kristina Bazan, who does not know her?) talked about this very interesting show and I thought that it sounded very interesting. After I had watched the first episode, I was mind blown. Seriously, those women talk about everything and have such incredible views on life! All the women are so strong and lead such amazing lives that you really have to pick up a pen and start writing down what they say. Well, that's at least what I did.

Roasted green beans with mushrooms

This is a really easy recipe for delicious roasted green beans with mushrooms, balsamic and parmesan. I do think that roasting vegetables is the greatest trick to add to your cooking repertoire, because nothing concentrates and sweetens the flavor of vegetables more than roasting.

Blueberry-Lemon Galette

So, we both love, love Pinterest! It's the greatest way to find inspiration about, well, basically everything. Yesterday I was just randomly browsing through the food section (bad idea if you do that after you have already eaten, it makes you crave even more food!) and I found this Blueberry-Lemon Galette
which sounded really delicious, and I thought "well, we have christmas in about 5 weeks, it's cold outside and I didn't have plans for monday anyways, why not practice my baking skills?". And it was the best decision ever!

Thoughts on: Happiness

 
Let's be honest, being happy is the most important thing in life, am I right? Anyone who says something else would be, well, kinda weird. I constantly find my self asking 'what makes me happy?' and I have a huge list of things that do (of course I also have a list about that kind of things!!). But to be honest, it's hard always doing things of this list, most of the time because of a lack of time. And seriously, why do I have to follow a list? Can't you just find happiness in your everyday life?

Dreamhouse in Stockholm, Sweden

This apartment is located in an old building which was renovated recently. They saved some old elements and combined them with modern, Scandinavian design which leads to a beautiful result. The apartment is located in Sibirian, a very vibrant and popular part of Stockholm with lots of restaurants, shops and cafés. I would do anything to have a house like this!

DIY: Recycled jars

So I was just cleaning my place, when I saw these jars that had been standing there for some days, waiting to be brought to the garbage.

Suddenly I realized I had some left over paint from one of my previous "do-it-yourself-projects", the one with the black globe. I just painted the lids of the jars black and now I have some useful containers which, in my opinion, look way better than with the original lids!

Sara Landstedt is a famous Swedish photographer. Sara is self confessed 'happy, laugh-out-loud' person who finds it hard to sit still and absolutely loves her work. Her portfolio is full of inspiring interior pictures which she has taken for magazines and other clients as well as portraits and commercial images in collaboration with stylist Johanna Pilfalk.

Shopping tip: Antwerp

Since I'm living in Leuven at this moment to go to university, I'm not spending so much time in Antwerp as I used to. Nevertheless, it's still my favorite city in Belgium to go shopping. The city offers you an endless variety of shops, going from the classic ones like Zara and H&M, to some concept stores where you'll want to stay for several hours. Here you have a small selection of our favorite shops to visit.

DIY - Black globe

Last week I wrote a post about a new book I bought, called Woonboek, full of inspiration for your interior and do-it-yourself projects. One project was the 'renovation' of an old globe.

Budapest - Day 1

On thursday I went to Budapest with two friends. This trip was rather spontaneous since none of us had a clue what to do that weekend, the only thing knowing that we just wanted to escape the usual daily routine. We jumped at the chance of going to Budapest since we all have never been there (I also never really saw a lot in the eastern parts of Europe except for Krakow when we went there with school) and a definite plus was the fact that the train was rather cheap. The city is really beautiful. They have a lot of old buildings and there are many young people so it feels very vibrant. It is, however, not as clean as we are used to here in germany, but I guess you just have to watch out to never step into dog poo. It reminded me a bit of Paris with the same style in architecture and there really is a lot to see! Those three days were very exhausting, but I just love discovering new places!

I was looking for a new watch for some time but couldn't find that perfect one I was looking for. Yesterday I went on a shopping trip to Breda (The Netherlands) with my sister. There, I finally found a watch and I'm so happy with it!

Quick Update

Hey guys! I know I have not posted anything in the past three weeks but there is a very good reason for that: I didn't have any internet! Yes, it turns out it can be difficult getting internet in germany. Especially if you move into a freshly renovated appartment and they therefore have disconnected any cables -.-
So I am in Regensburg and I have to say, it's great here! I mean I didn't want to leave Leuven, but Regensburg is super pretty, University is fun and the people are all very nice. I am just posting some photos taken the past three weeks, tomorrow I will be leaving for Budapest, but I'll keep you posted.

This house is owned by graphic designer Karlijn de Jong. For her job, she works with lots of colors, so when she arrives home, "she prefers to unwind in a calm, subtle environment".  Drawing from strong Scandinavian influences and a monochrome palette of black, white and gray, de Jong created an exclusive apartment.

Blogilates

Due to a lot of problems with my shoulder, I had to stop sporting for a very long time. It wasn't easy to find a new way to exercise without pain, but as soon as a friend told me about this blog full of instructing videos for pilates, I knew I had to try it. And well, I love it! :)

Scandinavian house in Ghent, Belgium

This house is located in the city centre of Ghent in Belgium. The owner works in an interior shop (De Huiszwaluw). Her Scandinavian inspired home has the typical combination of pure white and colorful details. It is just a perfect example of how my dream house would look!

When I'm at home, I'm always listening to music. We both love to discover new bands and Last.fm is perfect for that. It's a music website founded in 2002 in the UK which recommends new music to you, based on the music you've listened to.
