Question of style: a story of pallets

Pallets are a constant source of inspiration, you meet them in all interiors without it seems now incongruous, quite the contrary they provide the  plus element, both Recycling and smart in a modern interior. Made of spruce or pine, they require no treatment if you keep them inside, those in pine can also be installed outdoors as they are naturally rot. You doubt it? So some pictures to inspire you.

New in - Shopping in Copenhagen (DK) and Malmö (SE)

During my vacation in Copenhagen and the trip to Malmö, we basically shopped 5 days in a row. There were just so many beautiful design shops and fashion stores I couldn't stop myself from buying so many things. Here you have a list of my favorite souvenirs!

Within 10 days, I'm going to Copenhagen for a week. One of main reasons why I wanted to go there, is  that I'm such a huge fan of the Scandinavian design. Design Letters, designed by Arne Jacobsen, is one of my favorites!

Minimalism in... Interior

Since quite some time I have been fascinated by minimalism. It doesn't necessarily mean less from everything but just thoughtfullness about what you need and in what kind of quality you want it to have. It also means that you don't have to have an overpiling closet or, even worse, an overpiling appartment. Thus, I have been browsing some websites for inspiration.

Dream house

Industrial designer Aafke  loves scouring flea markets and vintage stores for treasures to bring home and upcycle. In her eclectic Netherlands home, an all-white backdrop ensures that her secondhand finds are central, while teal and yellow tones lend a laid-back, beach-house-inspired look.

Our Scandinavian neighbors have years ahead of us in terms of ecology and optimal exploitation of energy sources. Black walls can absorb and retain heat from the sun. Another good example here for a 4-room apartment perfectly decorated, in a building of residential suburbs. Who said black was sad? It is refinement … I would kill to live in an apartment like this!

Dreamhouse in Stockholm, Sweden

This apartment is located in an old building which was renovated recently. They saved some old elements and combined them with modern, Scandinavian design which leads to a beautiful result. The apartment is located in Sibirian, a very vibrant and popular part of Stockholm with lots of restaurants, shops and cafés. I would do anything to have a house like this!

Sara Landstedt

Sara Landstedt is a famous Swedish photographer. Sara is self confessed 'happy, laugh-out-loud' person who finds it hard to sit still and absolutely loves her work. Her portfolio is full of inspiring interior pictures which she has taken for magazines and other clients as well as portraits and commercial images in collaboration with stylist Johanna Pilfalk.

Minimalist house in the Netherlands

This house is owned by graphic designer Karlijn de Jong. For her job, she works with lots of colors, so when she arrives home, "she prefers to unwind in a calm, subtle environment".  Drawing from strong Scandinavian influences and a monochrome palette of black, white and gray, de Jong created an exclusive apartment.

This house is located in the city centre of Ghent in Belgium. The owner works in an interior shop (De Huiszwaluw). Her Scandinavian inspired home has the typical combination of pure white and colorful details. It is just a perfect example of how my dream house would look!

HAY, Danish design

This weekend a new interior design shop opened in Antwerp, Belgium. HAY is a Danish design company who tries to regain the popularity of the simple yet beautiful Scandinavian design from 1960.

New apartment

Last week, I moved to a new apartment in Leuven (Belgium) where I'll be living during the week to study psychology at the catholic university of Leuven. I used to live in Antwerp with my parents and sister, but the distance between Antwerp and Leuven is too big so that's why I'm living alone at this moment.

Interior: Black

At my house everything is white and very simple but when I see these pictures, I almost want to start painting again. I really like how it looks when you have a white interior with just a black wall, combine this with some color accents and you get a nice room. In my opinion, it's a perfect way to make a big room cosy! When you have a small room, you can add some black accents because an entirely black wall makes your room look smaller. I should remember this when I'm moving to a new apartment next time!

Interior: Scandinavian style

We share a big interest in home decor and especially the Scandinavian style. It's a beautiful combination of old and new, white and color. This results in a cosy and clean interior with a warm atmosphere.

This is an apartment located in Stockholm, Sweden. The owners, Johanna and Adam, bought the apartment in the original state from 1929. With only 43 square meters, they really had to puzzle to make it look like a real home. They actually had to put their bed in the kitchen, just so they could have a separate living room and bedroom. Nevertheless, we think they did a great job! Doesn't it look cosy?!
